Designed to make form-filling as easy as copy and paste, smart paste allows you to seamlessly populate forms using existing information. This not only saves time but also minimizes errors, offering a more efficient and accurate way to manage your tasks. Starting today, these enhancements are rolling out to environments worldwide, bringing you a smarter, faster, and more intuitive form-filling experience.

What is the ‘Smart Paste’ Feature in Power Apps?

The Smart Paste feature in Copilot’s form-fill assistance for model-driven apps is a game-changer, designed to eliminate the frustration of manual form filling. Picture this: you have important details in an a text file, document, or note that need to be entered into a form. Instead of painstakingly typing each piece of information, you can now simply copy the text to your clipboard.

With Smart Paste, there’s no need to select individual fields. Just click the Smart Paste button or use the standard paste shortcut (CTRL+V or CMD+V). Copilot intelligently analyzes both the form and the pasted content to suggest the most relevant matches for each field. These suggestions are displayed inline, allowing you to quickly review and accept what works best for you.

Nothing is saved until you confirm the entries, giving you complete control. If you’re not satisfied with the suggestions, you can simply ignore them—they’ll be automatically discarded. To make the process even more seamless, a new feature has been added that lets you clear all suggestions in the form with a single action.

Smart Paste is here to save you time, reduce errors, and make form filling faster, smarter, and more intuitive than ever.

To use the Smart Paste feature, simply copy the relevant text to your clipboard and paste it into a form within Power Apps or a Model-Driven App. The Smart Paste feature will then automatically collect, analyze, and process the pasted text. Once processed, the form-filling assistant will intelligently extract the data from your clipboard and populate the fields within the Power Apps form.

How to enable ‘Smart Paste’ feature in Power Apps?

To enable smart paste in your model-driven apps, follow these steps in the Power Platform admin center:

1. Go to Settings > Product > Features > AI form fill assistance section.
2. In the “Enable this feature for” field, select “All users immediately.”
3. Turn on the “Enable smart paste (Preview)” option.

This will activate smart paste for all users in your model-driven apps.

Form fill assistance in model-driven apps is expanding to 21 languages, including Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish, in addition to English (US).
