We will learn and understand what refresh cadence is and how to configure it in the Power Apps environment. Before we start, make sure to subscribe to CRM Crate so that you can stay up to date in the field of Power Platform.
An environment serves as a space for storing, managing, and sharing your organization’s business data, apps, and flows. It also functions as a container to segregate apps with varying roles, security needs, or target audiences. Power Apps automatically generates a default environment for each tenant, which is accessible to all users within that tenant.
What is Refresh Cadence & how to configure it in an Power App environment?
You can specify the frequency at which you’d like your Power App environment to receive updates and features for specific Microsoft Power Platform services. After creating an environment, you have two choices to select from as given below.
Environment Setting | Description |
---|---|
Frequent | Get access the latest updates and newest features multiple times a month. |
Moderate | Get access to updates and features at least once a month. |
Follow the below steps to configure Refresh Cadence for your environment.
Step 1: Sign in to the Power Platform admin center ( https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com) as an admin. Note that you should have one of the given role – Dynamics 365 admin, Global admin, or Power Platform admin.
Step 2: Select an environment as per your requirement and click on ‘Edit’.
Step 3: Navigate to the setting called ‘Refresh Cadence’ and select the configuration of you choice.
Important Notes
1. By default, environments are set to automatically follow a frequent update cadence. Creating and editing canvas apps will result in updates being applied once a week. When apps are published, they will receive the corresponding runtime version.
2. If you opt for the moderate cadence for the environment, all activities related to creating and editing canvas apps will be updated on a monthly basis. When apps are published, they will be upgraded to the corresponding runtime version.
The refresh cadence in a Dataverse environment plays a crucial role in ensuring that your Power Apps and data remain up-to-date and reliable. Depending on your organization’s needs and the nature of your data, you can configure the refresh cadence to optimize performance and accuracy. By concluding the appropriate refresh cadence strategy, you can maintain data consistency and enable users to work with current information in your Dataverse environment, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of your Power Apps.
